DUPR Spring Pickleball Challenge at DFC
The rainy weather held off just in time for the DFC to finish its first ever DUPR Spring Pickleball Challenge on Saturday, April 22nd. Twenty-four DFC members participated in three round robin matches before enjoying exciting semifinal and final rounds. DUPR – which stands for Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating – is quickly becoming the go-to standard rating system in Pickleball around the world. All players, regardless of their age, gender, location, or skill, are rated on the same scale between 2.00-8.00 based on their match results. The DUPR algorithm considers three factors: 1) How many points did you win? 2) Did you win or lose the match? 3) Was this a self-posted rec play score, a league match, unsanctioned tournament, or a sanctioned tournament result?
The April 22nd event was organized by DFC Tennis Director Andrea Acker and DFC Pickleball Pro Jim Cronberger. Participants ranged from Advanced Beginner to Advanced Intermediate players. One member commented: “It was a great opportunity to play competitive pickleball and also be social with members that you don’t normally see all the time, including regular tennis players!”
Unfortunately, due to the rain that arrived just as the last point was played, the group was unable to enjoy a delicious lunch and watch an exhibition match of local advanced players.
Stay tuned for a similar event to be planned in the near future!
