Tennis Courts Reservation:
The tennis court reservation sheet is available in the main office. You may call the office at 684-6672 to reserve a court. Club matches have first priority and reservations take precedence over walk-ons.
- An individual can reserve only one court at a time in his/her name.
- Courts other than clay courts may be reserved one-week in advance. In order to provide the greatest amount of access, and avoid situations of lapsed use, clay courts may be reserved no earlier than 48 hours ahead of play time. Please note, reservations made by the DFC Office for league play, clinics and lessons are not subject to these limits, but rather are limited to leaving one court available for members at all times.
- Proper shoes must be used and court etiquette, as posted on boards at the courts, followed.
- Those who reserve courts have a 15 minute grace period before the court reservation is void, and the court is again open.
- All attempts will be made to schedule league matches at 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm, so as:
a) to allow two leagues to play at the Club if necessary on one night without completely monopolizing the courts, and
b) to allow one clay court to be available for membership (non-league) play and one clay court to be available for league play.
- If no members are on the court and no reservation exists for the 2nd clay court 30 minutes ahead of the start of a league match, then the one-court only policy for league play is waived, and the league players may also reserve and use the 2nd clay court.
Ball Machine:
The Duke Faculty has a ball machine available to members at no cost. The following guidelines apply to use fo the ball machine:
- You must be 16 years old or supervised by an adult approved to use the ball machine. (An adult is defined as someone over 18 years of age or older.)

- There is no charge to rent the ball machine.
- You must reserve the ball machine through the office. The ball machine will be reserved for a maximum period of one hour.
- The ball machine must be put away and returned to the shed by the end of the scheduled time. All the tennis balls should be picked up, and the battery returned to the main office.
- The ball machine will be stored in the shed at the D courts. The ball machine may be used only on the D courts.
- The ball machine may be reserved up to 2 days ahead. A ball machine reservation time is considered forfeited if not in use by 15 minutes after the reservation time.
- Players should consider that at least two members use the ball machine at the same time. One member hitting, while the other picks up the balls and attends the machine. In this way, maximum use of the ball machine can be obtained, cost is shared and the reservation time may extend to 2 hours.
