Executive Director

The Duke Faculty Club (DFC) in Durham, NC is seeking a Director. The DFC is a private membership recreational facility available to employees and alumni of Duke University. The DFC Director reports to a governing Board of Directors, and is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the club while at the same time formulating long-range plans consistent with the vision of the Club, in consultation with the Board of Directors.

The Director plans, organizes, and directs the financial and administrative operations of the DFC, including programs, finances, marketing, personnel, and facilities components. Each of these aspects is applied to 5 primary programmatic elements of the Club: aquatics, fitness, recreation, social, and tennis components.

Education/Training: Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience: Work requires six years related business or administrative experience to acquire knowledge regarding general personnel practices, accounting and budgeting principles and coordination of financial and administrative functions for recreational activity.

Summer Camp Employment Camp Counselors
DFC Camp Counselors are charged with providing fun, challenging, and creative experiences while actively participating in all camp activities. The position includes being a friend and role model to kids ranging in age from 5-13 years old. A group usually consists of two Camp Counselors, one Junior Counselor, and 12-15 campers. These staff members lead campers in activities including recreational games and sports, outdoor adventures, nature education, arts & crafts, and field trips. Counselors supervise campers, facilitate programs, and create and foster camp spirit.


Junior Counselors

Junior Counselors are considered staff members; attend pre-camp staff training; and are assigned a work schedule and job duties with the group he or she is placed in. The goal of the program is to further develop skills in organization, teaching, and leadership.



Aquatics EmploymentLifeguards
DFC Summer Lifeguards are charged with recognizing and responding quickly and effectively to all emergencies, monitoring activities in swimming areas, preventing accidents and providing assistance to pool patrons, and maintaining order in swimming areas. Lifeguards will also inspect facilities for cleanliness, monitor pool chemistry using a water testing kit, and help in the overall smooth functioning of the swimming pools.


Swimming Instructors
DFC Swimming Instructors will spend the summer teaching patrons of all ages how to swim or to swim more efficiently. Instructors will be charged with providing fun, challenging, and creative experiences for the students in their lessons.



Support Staff EmploymentSnack Bar and Front Desk Attendant
Snack Bar and Front Desk Attendants are often the first point of contact for all DFC patrons, thus they are charged with facilitating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. In addition, they are responsible for monitoring facility access, answering general questions, as well as the daily operations of the snack bar

Fitness EmploymentPersonal Trainer
DFC Personal Trainers are responsible for empowering patrons to plan and adhere to specific exercise regimens that will help them achieve their fitness goals. The Duke Faculty Club's fitness education philosophy is that every patron should be able to pursue a healthy lifestyle, independent of our assistance.

 

Fitness Instructor
DFC Fitness Instructors are charged with teaching group fitness classes and workshops. They are responsible for facilitating classes that are challenging, invigorating, and energizing.
